Dawn to Dusk Charity Event 2007

Dawn ‘til Dusk
Tuggeranong United Charity 12-Hour Football Match

The annual Tuggeranong United 12-hour marathon charity football match will take place on Sunday 25th November in conjunction with the Tuggeranong Community Festival.

The event, which last year saw a memorable 83-83 draw between the ‘Greens', masquerading as Kambah United SC and the ‘Golds', representing Wanniassa SC (the two teams that merged to form Tuggeranong United in 1986), will be held at Kambah 2, Laidlaw Place, the home ground of TUFC. This event is a chance for players, officials, supporters, friends and family of Tuggeranong United and the surrounding area to show their support for charity, keep fit and enjoy a cracking atmosphere whilst playing football - all day!

The ‘match' kicks off at 7am and will be split into twenty minute continuos ‘roll-on, roll-off' games with individual player's contributing a small fee for each segment that they wish to play in. All funds raised on the day will be collated and presented to Epilepsy ACT; Tuggeranong United Football Club's chosen charity. Epilepsy ACT is dependent on events such as these in order to raise much needed capital.

Team registrations are due by Sunday 18th November 2007 and forms can be downloaded from the official Tuggeranong United website at www.tufc.com.au where individual player forms can also be located for those who wish to play but who do not have a team to join.

As per last year, the organisers are also on the look out for any surplus football equipment to send to rural Australia in order to promote the game and enable under-privileged communities to take part in football. In this respect special bins will be available for any kit, boots, balls, shinpads or football related paraphernalia to be deposited to be sent to these communities at a later date. Remote towns in the Northern Territory were the recipient's last year.

"It's a fantastic event and a way for everyone associated with the club to give back to the community," events co-ordinator Olathe Butler commented. "We are expecting a healthy turnout and will be looking to beat the total we raised for charity last year. We would urge all interested parties to register ASAP in order for us to make this event even bigger and better than 2006."

The match will be played at the Kambah 2, Laidlaw St Kambah.
