Tuggies Topple Belco!
Tuggeranong United has pulled off the upset of the season so far, defeating top of the table Belconnen 2-1 at McKellar last night. Two goals from Alex Weber broke Belconnen's heart as the team's young stars stepped up, dug deep and stuck it right to the much fancied and well financed home side.
Outstanding performances from Tim 'Scholesy' Stewart, Tim Anderson, Marty Corujo and Danny Beaumont, as well as the return of Mark Shields spelled bad luck for Belco. Weber's early goal unsettled Belconnen, as they tried in vain to get the ball to their danger man Danny Macor, comprehensively marked out of the game by Jamie Curry and his fellow defenders Sam Turner, Danny Moutrey and Aaron Cashman.
The injection of Matt Menser in the second half to partner Weber proved the clincher for Tuggies. Menser's piecing run down the right wing and cross to Weber lead to the heart-breaker goal around 15 mins from time. Belco's night went further downhill when Zac Maybury was sent for a second yellow, and Callum Beaton was stretchered off with a serious knee injury.
In the PPL match Tuggies were very unlucky to go down 2-0 with a goal being allowed off a quick free kick taken while a Tuggies player was being spoken to by the ref.
PL18s continued their unbeaten run winning 2-0, stretching to 5 matches without conceding a goal!
PL 16s were beaten 3-1 by a strong Belco side, but will look forward to next week when they take on the lowly Goulburn Strikers.

2010 Adam Fry Memorial - Season Launch
27th March, 2010
Epilepsy ACT was again the winner in Tuggeranong United's annual Adam Fry Memorial Season Launch. As one of the largest football clubs in the Mens League, club members again showed their generosity, raising well over $2000 for the charity, which will be used to help sufferers of epilepsy and their families. The event is named after Adam Fry, a former player for Tuggeranong United who tragically passed away in 2004 as a result of an epileptic fit. The Memorial Shield has been contested since 2005 in a variety of formats, with the current format in its second year.
The event involved all TUFC's Senior teams competing in a round robin tournament, with teams receiving weightings according to their ranking. The teams stretched from Premier League to Division 10 and Masters. After an early charge from Division 10, and strong performances from Premier Pathways, the final was held between Jake Padrotta's Division 5 and Danny Parker's newcomers Division 4. Tyson Littlewood scored the winner for Division 5 in the dying seconds, and captain Matt Colbran accepted the Shield from Adam's parents Richard and Rhonda Fry.
Tuggeranong United will field 14 men's teams this season, including in the ACT Gatorade Premier League, and has around 230 men's players. Tuggeranong United also has over 900 Junior and 100 Women players.

TUFC Receive Government Grant
Grant Boost for TUFC.
28th January, 2010.
Tuggeranong United has been awarded a grant as part of the ACT Government's 2010 Sport and Recreation Grant Program.
The grant will be used to construct a permanent shade structure over the stands at Kambah 2, greatly enhancing spectator's enjoyment of Tuggies Premier League matches.
ACT Minister for Sport and Recreation, Andrew Barr, announced the grant at a function at Manuka Pool on Wednesday 27 January, commenting that he knew the shelter was long overdue and would be much appreciated by spectators.
The grant amount will be matched by Tuggeranong United and other contributors. This is part of a long term goal to develop Kambah 2 into a high level football home for the club, with annual improvements planned. Long time club sponsor Vogue Pergolas will construct the structure, which will provide shelter from rain, sun and the occasional snow!

Pre-Season Letter from the President
29 December 2009
Dear Player,
2010 is a promising year for TUFC Seniors. Last season we came agonisingly close to the top four in Premier League, PPL were Grand Finalists, and PL 18s finished third. This puts us in the strongest position in years to challenge the big end of town and realise our potential as a leading Premier League club. Three new clubs join the Gatorade Premier League in 2010, a challenge I'm sure all of our Premier League players are keen to take up. In all, 7 of our 12 teams made finals in 2009, an unprecedented figure.

2010 TUFC Committee
Hello Members,
Last night the TUFC Seniors AGM was held and the 2010 Management Committee was appointed.
President - Anthony Corder
Vice President - Steve Diggle
Secretary - Vacant
Assistant Secretary - Vacant
Treasurer - Vacant
Committee Member (Registrar) - Rob Maguire
Commitee Member (Social Events) - Matt McDonald
Committee Member (Equipment) - Jeremy Butler
Committee Member - Keon Ansell
2 further Committee Member positions Vacant
We are still looking for volunteers to fill the vacant positions, particularly the two following roles:
Committee Member (Sponsorship) - Our long time sponsorship volunteer Olathe would like to roll back her role to maintaining our ongoing sponsorship deals. This means we are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to seek out and manage some new sponsors.
Treasurer - We are looking for someone who has trained or is working in the financial industry to assist us with our finances. We have a generous offer from Marland Accounting to maintain our books, but still require a Treasurer to collate information, oversee the process and actually pay our bills!
We also need helpers for Publicity and the managing the PL Home Match Canteen. Please canvas team mates and friends for anyone willing to help with these or other roles. As you can see we have many vacant positions and our club's growth means these volunteers have more and more work to do.
Regards,
Anthony Corder
President
