Tuggies Topple Belco!

Tuggeranong United has pulled off the upset of the season so far, defeating top of the table Belconnen 2-1 at McKellar last night. Two goals from Alex Weber broke Belconnen's heart as the team's young stars stepped up, dug deep and stuck it right to the much fancied and well financed home side.

Outstanding performances from Tim 'Scholesy' Stewart, Tim Anderson, Marty Corujo and Danny Beaumont, as well as the return of Mark Shields spelled bad luck for Belco. Weber's early goal unsettled Belconnen, as they tried in vain to get the ball to their danger man Danny Macor, comprehensively marked out of the game by Jamie Curry and his fellow defenders Sam Turner, Danny Moutrey and Aaron Cashman.

The injection of Matt Menser in the second half to partner Weber proved the clincher for Tuggies. Menser's piecing run down the right wing and cross to Weber lead to the heart-breaker goal around 15 mins from time. Belco's night went further downhill when Zac Maybury was sent for a second yellow, and Callum Beaton was stretchered off with a serious knee injury.

In the PPL match Tuggies were very unlucky to go down 2-0 with a goal being allowed off a quick free kick taken while a Tuggies player was being spoken to by the ref.

PL18s continued their unbeaten run winning 2-0, stretching to 5 matches without conceding a goal!

PL 16s were beaten 3-1 by a strong Belco side, but will look forward to next week when they take on the lowly Goulburn Strikers.
